Today is Allison's birthday. She is my office-manager, personal assistant, worker bee, chief folder and counter, gopher, and sister-in-law. (we can't figure out what title to give her, but have snorted over a few good ones...)
It's Al's birthday and I ordered a gaggle of the always-a-crowd-pleaser Shelby Lynn's iced sugar cookies for her and the Senior Worker Bees to enjoy today while they worked. They're thin and sugary and sweet to the max. The kind of sweet that would make you punch your own mama if it meant the winner would get a glass of cold milk. And they're just about the cutest. See? And I have bought more of these than I can even count on 473 fingers.
Then Elizabeth (Senior Bee) brought Allison a plate-sized, all-natural, heart-shaped sugar-cookie (I know "sugar cookie" isn't hyphenated, but I was on a roll....) And I would've courted it and asked it to marry me. It was love at first sight. The shape, the icing, the chunky sparkly sugar crystals - and then I tasted the home-made goodness and almond-ish icing. That's when I pledged my love. And the bonus is that Elizabeth Vaught - of the "Keep Fayetteville Funky" Vaughts - told us all about Little Bread Company in downtown Fayetteville where she picked up the cookie AND where she frequents for spinach quiche. So I have now planned to go tomorrow with friend Kendra (who completes the Senior Bee Trinity), for a few cookies AND I've asked my Hubs to be my date for breakfast there on Saturday morning. Here's where it all began - the object of my affection.....
After about the umpteenth bite of sugar cookie, we found ourselves assembling paper products and singing "Jessie's Girl"....if you could've been a fly on the wall - we might've snacked on you too.AND FINALLY to complete The Cookie Triune, we had an official but giggly, sugar-induced drawing for the winner of the 2 lb. iced sugar cookie from the blog give-away here. And the winner is Michelle Yount! Congratulations, Michelle on winning the Happy Birthday Colossal Cookie! Let me know if you need any help finishing it off, I know four women who would be glad to come over!
